Negra Modelo - Cerveceria Modelo

This is one of the few decent beers that I usually can find in a Mexican-Texmex restaurant. It has been around for a long time and usually gets pretty good reviews in beer testings.

APPEARANCE:(3) Light mahogany colored. The foam settles rather thin.

AROMA: (2) A little bit of yeasty aroma with brown sugar hints in the background.

TASTE:(4) Rather full bodied. Clear malty flavors with hints of chocolate. Low bitterness and not much if any hops in the flavor. Still this is a very nice drinkable beer with the weight on the malt. There is some small sweetness that is not disturbing at all.

EXTRA: (2) Not that many extra points to give except that it is probably the best Mexican beer on the market, at least that I have tried.

This style of beer can be a little bit hard to define. Wiener or Munchener style but bordering towards bock bier.

Cerveceria Modelo

Beer style: Wiener style/Munchener style beer
Serving temperature: 10-12C
Alcohol: 5.3%

Food Pairings: Very versatile beer since the hop bitterness is low and malt dominates. It is very drinkable and works great as a session beer.

APPEARANCE: 3 x 5 = 15
AROMA: 2 x 10 = 20
TASTE: 4 x 10 = 40
EXTRA: 2 x 1 = 2

Total: 77/130
