The necessary static style on this page will consist of the following elements:
1. The name of the beer
2. The beer style
3. The Judging:
- Appearance
- Aroma
- Taste
- Extra
The ranking of beers after the testing will be done using a scale composed of the Judging components of the test which are all ranked with a point 1,2,3,4,5 where 1 is the lowest score and 5 is the highest score. Each scored is the multiplied with a weight indicating the importance of this testing component and the total of each component is added to a beer total score.
Appearance - This will be awarded 1-5 points with a weight of 5
Aroma - This will be awarded 1-5 points with a weight of 10
Taste - This will be awarded 1-5 points with a weight of 10
Extra - This will be awarded 1-5 points with a weight of 1
Appearance: With appearance means how the beer looks after being properly poured into a testing glass. Does it have a nice color and clarity? Is it having a nice thick and firm foam (only if that is appropriate for the beer style tested). Does it leave draping along the side of the glass. This component of the testing is important but not as important as Aroma and Taste so it's weight will be 10.
Aroma: Can the aroma be smelled already from far away from the glass when the beer is poured? Does the beer have a pleasant aroma that is appropriate for the beer style that is tested? This is together with Taste the most important component of the testing so this weight will be 10.
Taste: Does the beer have a pleasant taste? Is the bitterness and maltiness well balanced. Does it have a lingering bitterness? How is the mouth-feel and drinkability (if appropriate for the beer-style). This is together with Aroma the most important component of the testing so this weight will be 10.
Extra: This component is meant to capture the little bit extra thing that cannot be fit into the other 3 components. Extra could mean that the beer is pleasantly packaged in a appropriate bottle, a beautiful label on the bottle, rareness of the beer etc. This is the 'joker' of the components so it's weight will only be 1.
Finally: This is MY blog and the beers are going to be ranked by me and me only. The ranking of beers on this blog might not at all match sites like Beer Advocate or Rate Beer where thousands of beer drinkers rank beers and an average is calculated. This is a very personal beer blog. Please remember that but I still hope you like to read about the beers tested here.
